The Future is Not What It Used to Be: Creative Meat Technicians, Innovative Professional Tribers and Visionary Personal Worker Brand Coaches
What does the foreseeable – or maybe unforeseeable --future have in store for learners, educators and those who support them? Technology in permanent revolution?  “Gig jobs” in a “gig economy” with “gig education” soon to follow? Un-colleges and extreme learners? Systemic disruption of the boundaries of occupations and the skills needed to succeed in them? The answer to all of these questions is, of course, yes. This dialog will focus on how future trends will shape our roles as educators and counselors and what learners must know and do to navigate the change tsunami.

Making Meaning of “College and Career Ready”
K-12 institutions across the state are hard at work to get students college and career ready, but what does this really mean? Ready for what kind of college? Prepared for what type of career? By looking at the information now available about completion and earnings outcomes of community college students, this keynote session will grapple with vital questions for advising and alignment. We will discuss why your major matters, the role of multiple credentials in long-term financial stability, and how to support students in balancing short- and long-term gains.

2:10 - 2:55pm            Breakout Session
